Front Line and Fortitude by E J Lockhart-Mure

£12.50

Description

This book is based upon the life and diaries of Jeanne Elspeth Holford Walker, known as ‘Maria’, a Dorset-born woman who served in the ‘Wasbies’ – the Women’s Auxiliary Service based out in Burma. The Wasbies worked tirelessly in steaming heat, dust and monsoon mud to support the battle-weary men of General Bill Slim’s Fourteenth Army – also known as the ‘Forgotten Army’ – which included the 2nd Dorset’s and 1st Devonshire regiments. This is Maria’s story.
