School Visit FAQs

Are your activities accessible for disabled pupils?

Our building is wheelchair accessible with lift access to each floor. Unfortunately the lift does not go to the roof, so this area is not currently accessible to students in wheelchairs. Please let us know in the pre-trip questionnaire if any of your students have any access needs, and we will tailor your visit to accommodate.

Can I visit the Museum before I bring my group?

Any teachers who have organised a visit to the Museum are welcome and encouraged to visit us before the trip. When visiting present your confirmation email at the front desk for free admission.

Is there space to eat lunch and store bags?

We have a small lockable room where students can store their bags and eat lunch. Please note we do not have an onsite café- your group will need to bring all food and drinks needed with them. There are public toilets that are wheelchair accessible.

There is also a small grassy area to the rear of the museum where you are welcome to take your group during break times, but please note it is near a busy road and the car park for the museum, and you would be responsible for the safety of your group at all times.

Is there a shop?

The Museum has a small gift shop with books, toys, stationary, and a selection of military and regimental memorabilia.

Can we take photographs in the Museum?

Please feel free to take your own photos of your group during your visit if consent has been obtained from parents. However, flash photography will damage items in the collection, so please refrain from using it in the galleries.
