Description

Created by staff, volunteers and supporters of the Keep Military Museum, the Keep in 50 Objects gives a fantastic overview of the museum’s extensive collection of regimental and military objects.

Fifty objects have been chosen from the 300-year history of the regiments to tell and illustrate some of the stories told by the Museum. This book and the Museum describe 300 years of the history of our County Regiments. The oldest, the 11th Regiment of Foot, became the Devonshire Regiment in 1881. At the same time, the 39th and 54th Regiments became the Dorsetshire Regiment. In 1958 those two Regiments amalgamated to to form the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment, which in 2007 merged in to the Rifles. But the Keep Military Museum also tells the story of the two counties in war, and the objects and tales in this book bring those stories to life.

The Keep in 50 Objects was edited by Christopher Jary, with photographs by Steve and Helen Jones.
