The Keep Military Museum is working in collaboration with Dorchester Town Council, Dorset History Centre, the Castletown D-Day Centre and the Royal Naval Association to put on an event to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Keep Military Museum - open 10am - 5pm - FREE ENTRY!
The Museum will be open all day and free to visitors. There will be miliary vehicles and a modern day equipment and weapons stand. You can even Meet the Home Guard!
Dorchester Borough Gardens - Drumhead Service at 11am.
From 10:30am an embarkation convoy from the Castletown D-Day Centre will be in the Gardens, as will the Durnovaria band playing on the Bandstand. The service will start promptly at 11am and will include a medal presentation. The convoy will process from the Gardens at 12pm back to Portland.
Dorset History Centre - 10am - 4pm
Discover how to find out about your relatives who have served, listen to some oral histories or join us for talks by Lt Cl (rtd) James Porter on the events of D-Day itself. The talks will be at 11:45am and 2:30pm and will be first come first served.
