Act of Remembrance - Tirah Campaign 1897

Here are our photographs from the Act of Remembrance for the Tirah Campaign, held at The Obelisk in Borough Gardens, Dorchester on 28th October 2015.

The 1st Battalion The Dorsetshire Regiment were in action at Tirah on the North-West Frontier in October 1897 and the names of the fallen are recorded on The Obelisk. A memorial service is held every year.  This year the wreath was laid by Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Edwards and crosses were laid for each man killed after the names were read out by Peter Metcalfe. The Service was conducted by Mr David Bowen, Lay Minister and readings were given by Cllr Robin Potter (Mayor of Dorchester), Major Nick Soeakman and Chris Copson (Curator of The Keep Military Museum)
