Copying Charges

Photographs - £5 per image whether sent by post, email or on a CD-Rom.

Scanned Documents - £5 per document whether sent by post, email or on a CD-Rom.

Document Photocopies - 20p per page in addition to research fee.

Copyright restrictions may apply and there will be limits to the amount of material we can photocopy.

Archive Visits

We have limited staff and resources and we need to preserve our archives. We can only arrange an Archive visit if there is a good reason why a written research request is unsuitable. Many of our documents are no longer accessible to the public in order to preserve them and scanned copies are available to view instead.

Archives visits are usually arranged for a Wednesday morning (Dorset) or Thursday morning (Devon). Please contact us at least 4 weeks in advance with two alternative dates. Archive visits must be accompanied by one of our researchers.

Archives visits are charged at £25 which covers 2 hours with a researcher. This £25 must be paid in advance by cheque or PayPal and your visit will not be confirmed until payment is received. Further work on the same day will be charged at £10 per hour or part hour, payable on the day.

Copying charges apply as above and copying cannot always be completed on the day of your visit.

Personal photography of documents or photographs held in our archives can only be carried out with the consent of the Curator and a copyright restrictions may apply. A copying fee of £5 per image/document will apply whether we supply the image or whether you bring your own camera.

Commercial Work

If your enquiry is for commercial work, personal financial gain or publications please advise the Curator from the outset. Enquiries of this type may attract a higher fee.
