An Unknown Dorset Soldier

Back from the Somme and the burial of two unknown soldiers, one Dorset and one Bedford in Bouzincourt Ridge CWGC Cemetery. DNA got the Dorset down to one of six names on the Arras Memorial from an original twelve, all killed on 29/30 March 1918 during the battle of Albert. For those of you who haven't been there before, Bouzincourt Ridge is an interesting cemetery, giving views over to Thiepval in one direction and Albert in another, the basilica spire being very visible. Thanks to Louise and Jeanette of the JCCC for organising it so well, the CWGC for their usual gleaming job, the Anglians and Rifles, a huge number of French standard bearers and Padre Iori Price, plus my three stalwart companions, Nick, Ken and Rob. Excellent job guys - very moving.
