Saturday saw the last get together of one of the longest running Regimental Associations in British history. The Swedebashers met up regularly after the Second World War and their story will live on at the Keep Military Museum thanks to the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to their memory. Formed from the 12 Devons, the Red Devils as they were known made up the 6th Airborne Landing Brigade, responsible for glider landings in Normandy, the Ardennes and Germany. The first Airborne assaults were the most daring and courageous acts of the whole Normandy campaign. They suffered horrendous casualties around Ranville and Pegasus Bridge.
