Volunteers at The Keep Military Museum give hundreds of hours of invaluable help to the Museum every year. Their varied tasks include transcription and research, conservation work, writing articles for the website, photography, managing the library, helping with display work and assisting with front of house. Some of the Museum's collections are managed by our volunteer experts. We try to give our volunteers tasks which match their personal interests and experience.
Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet like-minded people and gives you the opportunity to learn new skills too. It is a very satisfying way to spend some spare time.
The Museum could not carry out all its work without the support of its volunteer workforce. We are always on the look-out for new volunteers, particularly those with an interest in Military History. The openings do depend on the Museum's current needs however so we do not have vacancies in all areas at all times. We are currently looking for Front of House volunteers to help run the front desk and the shop. You would need to be able to committ to the same day every week on a regular basis and ideally have retail, reception or similar experience which has brought you into contact with the general public.
If you are interested in joining our team, please email the Curator or telephone him on 01305 264066 in the first instance.
