There is something for all the family at the Keep this summer holiday! You can dress up in military uniforms, find the trench rats in the museum and even walk through a First World War trench! 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tuesday 22nd August 10:00 – 14:00 Make do and Mend event – What does a sock with hidden stripes, a sheet with a patch on, a wooden steamroller and a child’s dress have in common?

Come along to the Keep Military Museum to find out about Make Do and Mend! Wartime repairs are just as relevant now in the 21st Century. Learn some simple mending skills to extend the life of your favourite piece of clothing – help save the Planet by reusing resources – and save money!

Thursday 24th August 10:00 – 14:00 World War One handling kit event - A chance to hear the history behind the Keep's World War One artefacts, you have the chance to try on a uniform and even pick up a rifle! Sessions will be held throughout the summer and don't forget all kids under 16 are free this summer!

Wednesday 25th October 2017 11:00 A short remembrance service for the Dorsets who fell in the Tirah Campaign 1897-1898. Held at the memorial at the Borough Gardens, everyone welcome.
