The Keep Military Museum, Dorchester, Dorset

The Keep Military Museum exists to 'present and preserve the history of the Regiments of Devonshire and Dorset and those artefacts held in trust, as a public attraction of excellence, whilst promoting inspiration, and learning'. We are committed to education in the context of schools and as a part of life long learning. To this end, we are developing a number of education packages aimed at school in the counties of Devon and Dorset, from KS2 through KS3/GCSE to A2 level. They will cover aspects of the National Curriculum and the history syllabi of the major examination boards. Although where possible we will develop cross-curricular links.
Our education packages are/will be written by teachers, assisted by our specialist historians. Due to their size, some packs will be distributed by CD and others, wholly or in part, may be downloaded from this site. All our education packs will be supported in the long term by additional resources, updates and technical assistance.
The museum exists not only through its outreach programmes but also through its physical presence in Dorchester. We would love to see school parties, individuals and those who wish to use The Keep and its facilities for personal, education related, research or work experience.
